Where to stay in Iceland: Panorama Glass Lodge

This summer we took a road trip around Iceland in a camper van. Our goal was to spend most nights at campsites and not book any other accommodations. But we knew we HAD to stay at least one night at Panorama Glass Lodge. Visiting this cabin has been on our bucket list for so long! It was an utterly unique travel experience, not to mention one of the most beautiful cabins we’ve stayed in. You should add it to your bucket list too!

about panorama glass lodge

Panorama Glass Lodge is owned by a family in Selfoss, Iceland (originally from Germany and Switzerland). When they opened the first lodge in 2017, their goal was to build glass cabins with panoramic views that allow guests to witness the midnight sun (in summer, Iceland experiences almost 24 hours of sunlight), stars, and northern lights from the comfort of their bed.

Their four lodges are spread out over a large land area to make sure all guests have enough privacy. You truly feel like you’re in a stunningly beautiful middle of nowhere.

Panorama Glass Lodge has been featured in many major publications, and the individual lodges are usually booked months in advance. If you’d like to stay here, make sure to plan your trip and book your stay early!

Location

Panorama Glass Lodge is about 2 hours away from Keflavik Airport, or 1.75 hours from Reykjavik. So, if you’re taking a road trip around Iceland, it’s most convenient to stay there either at the very beginning or very end of your trip, depending on the direction you’re traveling. Because of its location, Panorama Glass Lodge is a perfect base for exploring the south coast of Iceland.

lodges and amenities

Each lodge has a small kitchen with a microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, electric kettle, and some basic food items (pasta, spices, tea, olive oil, etc.). Since there are no grocery stores close by, make sure to bring all the necessary food supplies with you.

The compact dining area has a table and two chairs. The bathroom has a large rain shower and Organic Cosmetic Products. No worries, there are no glass walls in the bathrooms!

All four lodges have king-size beds—the focal point of the cabin—surrounded by glass walls and a glass ceiling. The views from here are spectacular! During the summer months, you might want to bring an eye mask to help you sleep, since, as we mentioned above, in summer Iceland experiences almost 24 hours of sunlight.

Each lodge has an outdoor terrace and private hot tub surrounded by epic views. There is also a viking swing on the bank of the nearby river that guests can share.
