San Francisco Coffee Shops You Need to Visit

You know how much I am obsessed with coffee! Thankfully, there’s no shortage of lovely coffee shops in San Francisco and we got to visit a ton of them during our recent trip. Wow, I was hyper-caffeinated the entire time. Whether you’re a local or just visiting San Francisco, here’s a curated coffee shop guide with our favorite 6 spots for quality coffee and cute interiors. Enjoy!

1. the mill

736 Divisadero St, San Francisco, CA 94117

The Mill is all about the aesthetics, fresh-from-the-oven bread, and of course, premium coffee! The place is very spacious. It’s got high ceilings, wooden shelves, and lots of tables—the one by the window is my favorite! It’s definitely a place you’d want to come back to.

2. vive la tarte

1160 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94103

Vive La Tarte is a loft-like, industrial-chic Belgian bakery with an open kitchen that serves pastries, toasts, coffee, tea, and more. I loved the relaxed vibe of this place and there’s lots of seating available.

3. matching half

1799 McAllister St, San Francisco, CA 94115

A lovely neighborhood spot in Western Addition serving San Francisco-based Sightglass coffee and a great variety of food options including pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and salads. We sat on the window ledge and enjoyed people and dog-watching from my perch.

4. sightglass coffee

3014 20th St, San Francisco, CA 94110

Can you even say you’ve been to San Francisco if you haven’t visited the famous Sightglass Coffee? They have three locations, but the one in Mission District is my absolute favorite! I love the design of this coffee shop with tiled floors, large windows, and gorgeous wooden coffee bar. Psst…not to mention their coffee is some of the best in the city.

6. andytown coffee

3655 Lawton St, San Francisco, CA 94122

This contemporary artisan coffee shop and bakery located in the Outer Sunset district is quite popular, and for good reason. Andytown roasts their own beans, and all of their baked goods are made in-house. When you visit, make sure to try their famous signature drink the Snowy Plover, a refreshing coffee float made with espresso, brown sugar syrup, sparkling water, and house-made whipped cream. P. S. How cute is the elephant latte art they made for us?!

7. piccino coffee bar & bakery

845 22nd St, San Francisco, CA 94107

This was the last coffee shop we visited, just a few blocks away from the apartment we were staying in. Piccino means “little” in Italian. This tiny cafe serves specialty coffee drinks made with beans roasted by Sightglass, and pastries baked in-house. Most people get takeout, but there’s a small table inside, and if you’re lucky, you might find it’s available (like we did!).
