Weekend Getaway to the Catskills: Our Stay at Eastwind Hotel and Bar
Eastwind Hotel and Bar is a small boutique hotel nestled on a hillside in Windham, New York, with the beautiful Catskill Mountains in the backdrop. It’s the perfect mountain hideaway—a place to escape the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, reconnect with nature, and immerse yourself in a sense of peace and serenity.
The property dates back to the 1920s when it was a retreat for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Recently, Eastwind was redesigned into a more contemporary property, but one that still retains its rustic charm for a new generation of visitors year-round. The hotel’s decor features a mix of vintage and modern furniture with some mid-century accents. The interior details make each corner of this hotel memorable and special.
This was our first time both visiting the Catskills and staying at the Eastwind Hotel. We can’t recommend this property enough!

Eastwind is a very small hotel with only 26 accommodation options, including ten Lushna Cabins for those who prefer a glamping experience.
The rooms are bright and airy, with reclaimed wood elements and a color palette consisting mostly of navy, black, and white tones. In-room amenities include:
- Zenology bath products
- WiFi
- Wireless speakers
- Frette Linen
- Faribault wool blankets
Some of the rooms are pet-friendly for an extra fee of $50 per night.
For a glamping experience, you should stay in one of the Lushna Cabins or the newly built Lushna Suite. Each of them is equipped with a large floor-to-ceiling window, a bed, white linens and a private bathroom. This is such a unique accommodation that will help you reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort.
Amenities
Eastwind has a common area just beyond the check-in desk that offers lots of chairs, books, board games, a fireplace, and a salon cocktail bar.
The bar serves breakfast from 8:00-10:30am and cocktails, coffee, and tea with light snacks throughout the day. There is plenty of cozy seating in the lounge, but if you wish to, you can also have your drinks delivered to you anywhere on the property, whether you want to enjoy them in the comfort of your room or sitting by the fire outside.
There’s also an outdoor hot tub and barrel sauna that guests can use any time of day or night.
Things to do in the area
- Enjoy all the winter activities around Windham mountain: hiking, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, etc.
- Visit West Kill Brewing for beer tasting with the stunning views of the mountains
- Take a stroll down Windham’s Main Street. It has tons of restaurants, boutique shops, and art galleries. One of our favorite spots was The Windham Local, their breakfast sandwich is to die for!
- Visit Kaaterskill Falls, the highest cascading waterfall in New York State (260 feet tall), surrounded by beautiful forest
Eastwind Hotel often hosts fun events for their guests. We stayed there on New Year’s Eve and were surprised by all the lovely activities they had to offer, including a complimentary wreath-making class, a communal dinner with live music, and fireworks for the New Year’s celebration.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Eastwind Hotel & Bar. It was a lovely place for a quiet and cozy winter getaway, and we can’t wait to go back. Maybe next time in the summer?
